Episode 2: An Act of Binding

Kaylee could feel the shudder every time the ship entered and exited the hyperspace jump. She held onto the harness and prayed to stay alive.
She could hear Falcon in the next room struggling to hold on. “Don’t worry, this ship can handle it”, she shouted at Falcon. Falcon agreed but he could feel the desperation in her voice.

Out of the blue, the ship came to an abrupt stop, which sent Kaylee flying right out of the bed. She tried to soften the blow but failed to do, as her head hit her dorm wall.

Falcon instinctively tried to reach for her, but he was far away to reach.
As the ship violently shakes again, Kaylee finds herself floating in the middle of the room. It was not like there was no gravity, but she feels like something has propelled her to safety. She simply felt Supernatural.

A message came through the ship’s speakers, “All personnel remain calm, we are facing a malfunction of the pulsar engine. We will be anchoring at the nearest dock for repairs.”

Kaylee finds herself back in the bed. Her head is filled with a million questions. In a short while, the ship moors into the dockyard. Falcon and an injured Kaylee exit the ship and head towards the closest Canteena. Falcon tries to patch her up but the injury was not completely healed.

The outpost they landed is called Creek, an outpost orbiting a Rare Metal Mining Planet.

Ray meets up with Kaylee & Falcon. Kaylee is angry at Ray for leaving them stranded during the last mission. “Its life or death Kaylee. I was there to get you, people, back safely and I did, you are alive here.”

He stops and calms himself. “It’s a great thing that the Pulsar Engines in Legion’s ship got damaged. Now is the window of chance for us to get far away from the grip of Legion. I found a ship that is ideal for us to escape. Its name is Amora and I want you to steal it for me. I can pay you…”

As he is talking, two armed guards waltz into the canteena with charged up guns, “We are looking for a traitor here. The name is Kaylee. Who is Kaylee here?”

The lead guard gets hold of the first guy he could get his hands on and starts barking orders at him.

“Watch whom you are talking to”, said the half drunk soldier. The guard smashes one in his face and the soldier dodges a second punch.

He quickly reaches for his own rifle and takes a shot at the soldier. Meanwhile, Kaylee and others readied their weapons and kept a close watch over this scuffle.

People there were scuffling out to get out of the firefight. When the second guard takes aim at the soldier, a laser just landed in his armor. He screamed and for a brief moment saw his assailant. It was Kaylee on her Laser Pistol. The soldier shoots the now incapacitated guard and the bullet pierces through his body armor.

The dozen more guards were heard moving towards the Canteena. Kaylee hurries towards the exit. She grabbed on the soldier and runs outside. Falcon and Ray are on their tail. Ray spots a familiar face in the street and its 2Pac. Ray grabbed on to the tall guy and starts dragging him as he ran.

The group comes to a stop once they felt they were out of danger.
“Kaylee.. tell me are you in or not for the heist”, says Ray.

As Kaylee is standing there confused. “Hello, strangers. What are you talking about?”, asked the soldier who had been dragged into the fight. He turns to Kaylee, “Call me Avenger. Thanks for pulling me out”

Kaylee nodded and said, “Ray here is trying to enlist me and Falcon to steal a ship for him”

“And what does he do it return ?” Avenger asks.

“I have a sponsor. I can pay you all to double your rates. But once you steal, you will be having a long road ahead of us. I assure you that.”

“If there is fighting, sign me in”, Avenger says with big smiles.
Kaylee and Falcon nod yes.

“Ray why am I here?”, said 2Pac.

“Because we need a pilot dummy and you are the best pilot out there”, said Ray.

“Yes I like flying, Which ship do you want me to fly..”, 2Pac said.

As the group gets acquainted time for the heist came. Ray supplied the group with a rough map of the small dockyard where “Amora” is marooned currently.

On a quick survey, they find the dockyard protected with more security than the usual. The team decides that they need a distraction to avoid getting into a firefight where the guards are clearly outnumbering them.

Just then, they hear a commotion in the main entrance. Someone is trying to get past the guards and is making a lot of noise to let him through. He is trying to push through the guards.

“Look. I have to get out of Creek. My life is on the line”, screams Zuran. “What is Zuran doing here?” Ray says.

“That is what I call a distraction”, Avenger says and enters the side entrance.

Kaylee, Falcon, and 2Pac (dragged by Ray) follow Avenger. They reach the ship when they spot 2 sentinels standing guard.
One of them open fires. Avenger retaliates. Falcon opens his shield and blocks Kaylee & Avenger.

As soon as the firefight starts, 2Pac tried to crawl out of the dockyard. Zuran breaks free of the guard and with superhuman strength, he runs toward the ship.

At the last moment, he spots 2Pac on the floor and jumps to avoid colliding with him.

The two sentinels were taken care of by Avenger and Kaylee. Kaylee tries to find a backdoor to enter the ship. Seeing Zuran and the guards, 2Pac also starts running towards the ship.

Avenger hears the sound of the guards chasing Zuran and turns to face them. Falcon redeploys his blue pulsing shield towards the oncoming guards. Zuran still running full speed bumps into the shield and is thrown back.

Once Kaylee opens the door, she and 2Pac enter. By instinct, 2Pac heads to the cockpit and starts the engine.

Kaylee reaches for her buzzing radio, she hears Ray’s voice. “Sorry, Kaylee it seems there was way too much security. I am outside now. Don’t think I can make it inside. you guys launch without me. I will be in touch with you soon. Take Zuran with you. He will be of help to your team…” his voice became serious suddenly, “Kaylee I know you are feeling something within you now. the power I am talking about..” Kaylee cuts him off. ‘not today;’ she told herself.

Avenger and Falcon back into the ship along with Zuran. Just as Zuran enters, the ships shield comes online, which left Avenger and Falcon outside. 2Pac over the radio, “My Bad!” He disengages the shield letting the two through.
Kaylee heads down to the Engineering bay to check for damage sustained by the ship during the firefight.

2Pac punches it and the ship maroons off the dockyard. With Kaylee giving the green light to go, 2Pac activates the pulsar engines and jumps to the navmap waypoint provided by Ray.

As the hyper jump starts something weird happens.

The crew finds themselves floating in a black void. They can’t identify who is who, but what came as a shock was that, two of the five resembled something out of ordinary. They looked alien in nature. They all felt a pulling effect and they all start floating away.

Kaylee reaches out to them. Invisible hands reach out from Kaylee and start pulling each of the members. She screams as she pulls them all together.
The members are tied together by a luminescent thread and Kaylee desperately tries to hold them together. She uses her last energy to anchor the thread to the faint outline of the ship. With it, a binding is made.

The darkness evaporates and a stunned crew was all back in their seats in Amora, as she silently stops at their waypoint.

2Pac sees a fork in the subspace highway. One path leads to an IGF Base, one to a place called Pirate Haven and one to an unknown destination.
