Episode 3: Mi casa su casa

The gang looked at each other pre-flexed at the anomaly that they faced.

The fork in the subspace highway and where it leads led to the group of adventurers confused. While each reacted differently, Ray reached out to them via the radio.

“I am thankful that you all reached the safe point. I am still at Creek. As promised I will pay your payment to you.”

He sent each of the team members 800 credits, except to Zuran. “Guys I need your help further. As of now I can’t make it out of Creek. I need you to find Dr. Brigman Hopps. He is leading specialist in the field of Xeno Psychic Phenomenon. I need to consult with him, but he seems to have disappeared. Maybe he is in hiding somewhere. Guys find him and I pay you handsomely.”

Kaylee asked ,”Where can we find him? Do you have any more clues?”

“Sorry I don’t have any more information”, Ray said. The team agreed in unison, that finding Brigman Hopps should bring them much needed credits.

The team voted to find the next destination. Pirate Haven was voted as the next best waypoint. 2Pac had some reservation towards the Pirate base. Zuran and 2Pac got into a long argument, followed by Zuran giving the pilot’s seat a tug, which ended up spinning 2Pac. He screamed as the chair was spinning for some time.

2Pac punches in the coordinates to Pirate Haven.

As soon as they enter the region, Zuran remembers vividly the Orange color dusty ringed planet and the remnants of a epic fight that was fought long time back.

In one of the defunct Monstrously Huge Battleship lies the Station ‘Pirate Haven’. Zuran had spent many rotations here. He used to watch the cluster of broken ships and weapons in a huge mess surrounding the station. In its own way it was amazing.

A raspy voice entered the Pilot’s bay. “Who are you? Why are you in this region”

2Pac responded in a usual robotic voice, “This is amora. We are approaching Pirate Haven”

“You sound like a IGF pilot”, said the rusty voice.

“No I am not”, 2Pac said and hung up. He could see 3 fighters approaching Amora. In a state of panic, 2Pac punches the engines and heads straight towards the incoming fighters. The fighters fire their torpedoes. As 2Pac was wrestling to maneuver the space ship, Kaylee and Zuran enter the cockpit.

“Pilot what’s happening? Why are we flying erratically?”, a clearly distressed Kaylee asked.

“Just look out the window”, he said. Zuran and Kaylee look outside. They could clearly see a torpedo heading right for them.

They both start panicking and Zuran pulls the mic from 2Pac. “This is Zuran. Why are you firing at us?”, he almost screamed at the top of his lungs.

“Hey Zuran is that you”, said the rusty voice.

Memories come flooding back to Zuran. “Brett how are you? WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?”, he screamed. Brett had been a IGF soldier once, but he had been smuggling goods using his position. Once he was court martialed, he joined the Pirates and now he is the defacto captain at Pirate Haven. He had taught Zuran the trade and he has helped Zuran run his smuggling rings.

The three blimps in the radar disappeared. “Hey Zuran, I will be waiting for you at the dockyard.”, Brett said.

The ship Amora, landed the dockyard at Pirate Haven. Zuran was the first to get out of the ship. Brett looked frail for his age but he had a sense of Authority. Just as Zuran was about to talk, 2Pac interrupted and kept trying to talk with Brett.

Brett had two of his guards pick up 2Pac and drag him to the cell.

“Hey Zuran its been years. I have got one question for you”, Brett said and his eyes inspected the other crew members waiting patiently behind.

“You seemed to have a good crew, is this your ship”, he asked.

“Yes it is”, Zuran lied. Others understood his intention and did not intervene.

“Good, then you came here at the right time”. Brett went on to explain that they are at a emergency period, because of a IGF force raiding a Pirate base and he is taking his men to help defend the structure.

Kaylee asked, “We are looking for Dr. Brigman Hopps. Do you know where to find him?”

“Yes and No”, said Brett. “I can’t reveal secret trusted to me. Maybe if you earn my trust, I will reveal it to you.”

Zuran, “if we are flying anywhere, I will need my pilot back”. Brett thought about it and then said, “Ok. I will let go your Pilot. In exchange, I will send 2 of my men with you for the raid. I want you to surrender two of you crew with me.”

Zuran looked at Avenger and Falcon, they nodded silently and left with Brett’s men.

“This is the only way we can earn their trust”, he told to Kaylee. Leo, a mechanic and Cannaro, a Techwiz join the crew.

2Pac gets back in the cockpit and punches the coordinates.

Soon the team had geared up and the ship ‘Amora’ attained Orbit over the rebel base. The mirrors are deployed immediately. Kaylee’s Mirror was equipped with the Psychic Beacon, while Zuran and Cannaro took the Marine and heavy gunner Mirrors.

As the Mind melt started, there was a darkness followed by the crew’s consciousness beamed to the mirrors on the ground.

Nick and Dr. Enzyme looked at each other not knowing what to do. Shana was making a scene again. She a student of Dr.Enzyme was very much in a love with him, was hanging on to Dr.Enzyme’s shoulder.

They could hear the bombs going away. The tremors shook and disoriented everyone, except Shana who still hasn’t let go of Enzyme.

Nick convinces to let off of Enzyme and get on the nearest drop ship.

“What now?” Dr.Enzyme asked. “I know a way out. Let’s get on a drop ship. Come, I will lead the way”, he said and headed down the hall.

Over the speakers, a voice was booming, “Lets go you scum, the drop ships won’t wait for everyone”

As they hurried, they come to an unmarked door. Nick again says, “No problem, I will open the door.”

He opens as he said. They were greeted by a dark blue colored room.

It looked like some sort of observation facility. They find a huge telescope like cylinder in the center of the room.

A curious Dr. Enzyme, starts clicking and clacking at the computer hoping to find a way to the nearest exit. They both did not notice a figure slip out of the control room.

The three mirrors from Amora, are rushing at full speed to the eastern gun tower, which is under Heavy enemy fire. Some more Pirate mechs were on the ground, fighting their hardest to stop the IGF long enough to evacuate everyone. Leo guides the three members with Intel from the radar in the ship.

As the three were fighting, Zuran manages to lob a grenade, destroying a mech and a dozen enemy soldiers. As Kaylee repairs the gun turrets, suddenly there is huge crashing sound and a cylindrical structure gets deployed in the eastern wall of the building.

There on top if it was Dr.Enzyme and Nick. As they both a button at the same time, a very powerful projective got fired. It hit the enemy soldiers, nearly decimating them all.

“Who managed to bring the rail gun online”, some of the pirates were wondering. For days, the engineers had been struggling to get it online.

The strike dispersed a huge sand cloud and the visibility was almost zero.

The enemy mechs divide into 2 teams and start attacking the Rail gun itself.

Kaylee and Zuran take out one mech while the other is taken care by the Turret tower. There was another shot and this time it killed another enemy mirror.

This prompted the rest of the enemy army to flee. A huge roar of excitement went non stop.

Few minutes back…

“Wow this is incredible”, Dr.Enzyme said and he kept looking into the controls. He finds a knob and turns in one direction. The top ceiling opens slowly and the gun deploys.

Both of them got shocked not just by the sight of the massive gun. But by the bunch of dead bodies in one corner of the room.

“Shit what is happening?”, said Nick.

“I found it. This is it!”. Enzyme was jumping up and down. “See here this is the fire key, once you and I turn it in this direction.”

As they did together, the gun fired off. Thankfully it landed in the enemy soldiers.

The two gets a hero’s welcome. Zuran felt that we should try to pull these people into the crew. Meanwhile Brett invites the crew to use the station, as a base of operations. He promises to discloses information about Dr.Brigman.

Falcon and Avenger return back to the crew. Cannoro had some serious doubts but he is instructed to be part of the crew by Brett.

Keeto meets 2Pac and gives him a secret mission. They have a secret meeting at a shady bar.
